Carolyn HofstetterArtist's StatementMy work reflects what I see in the beauty of life around me. I consider myself primarily a landscape painter and really enjoy painting on location where I always try to show the complex play of sunlight, shadows, and atmospheric conditions in my work. On my larger canvases I incorporate only a small area of realism into a large area of abstract design. BiographyCarolyn Hofstetter majored in art at Stanford University. She later studied painting with Ray Brose and Ted Goerschner, who inspired her love of plein air painting. She has been an active exhibitor with many shows to her credit and has served as a juror for local art groups, in addition to giving program presentations and critiques. Her paintings of the Allied Arts Guild gardens are featured on the cover and throughout the cookbook Tastes, Tales and Traditions, published by the Palo Alto Auxiliary for Children (benefiting the Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford) in 2005.
