Jean Prophet
Artist’s Background
For over 30 years, Jean Prophet has created functional and decorative
pottery that combines good design with careful craftmanship. She
continually explores colorful new glaze combinations that are brushed,
trailed or sprayed over the initial glaze. Many wheel-thrown
forms are altered; some have clay additions or stamped designs.
A native of Canada, Jean came to California in 1964 to practice
nursing. Her love of clay began ten years later when she started
taking ceramic classes at Foothill College. Today she shares
studio space with three other ceramic artists at Pine Tree Pottery in
the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve in Los Altos.
